Money, Money, Money

"Money, money, money, must be funny. It's a rich man's world." -ABBA
I use to think wanting lots of money wasn't a good thing. It would make you worldly and make you think you're better than other people. My parents never had much money for anything other than the house payment and putting food on the table. I always got birthday and Christmas presents and often a new dress at Easter time. I never felt poor, but when I saw the tax records after my dad passed away, I saw how he would only be paid a meager $6,000 a year as a farm hand. At least he did sell some cows and hay to supplement that income. My mom got a job at a grocery store to contribute as I was older and gone to school all day. Some feelings I got from my parents about people who had more money than us were that those people thought they were better than us and they probably were dishonest in some way to get the money. None of this programming bothered me as a child. I just accepted it as mostly true.
